Agro-farming Dialogues on Climate Preparedness and Practices in Coastal Agriculture of South Asia

A multi-stakeholder workshop on βAgro-farming Dialogues on Climate Preparedness and Practices in Coastal Agriculture of South Asiaβ was organised by the South Asian Forum for Environment (SAFE) in association with the Progyan Foundation for Research and Innovation (PFRI), with support from the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN).
The dialogue brought together government representatives, academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to examine critical gaps between climate policy and agricultural practice in coastal regions. Discussions highlighted the need for natural farming, careful evaluation of emerging technologies, community-based participation, and the integration of traditional knowledge with scientific innovation.
The dialogue also drew attention to climate-induced migration, biodiversity, cultural identity, and the need for socially responsive policy and financial mechanisms. The discussions reinforced the importance of linking scientific knowledge with community priorities to support a more resilient and equitable agricultural transition.
