Climate-Resilient Agroforestry Systems: Multi-Dimensional Assessment, Policy Recommendations, and Science-Informed Scaling Strategies

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in collaboration with the Progyan Foundation for Research and Innovation (PFRI) and with the support of IndusInd Bank, organised a workshop on climate-resilient agroforestry systems at the IC&SR Auditorium, IIT Madras.
The workshop brought together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and development partners to examine evidence-based approaches for strengthening agroforestry systems and sustainable rural livelihoods. Discussions addressed native species, loss and damage frameworks, public-private partnerships, blended finance, policy convergence, and the integration of scientific and traditional knowledge.
The sessions also highlighted the importance of context-specific planning, simple and community-friendly communication, and sustainability beyond the project period. The workshop reinforced the need to connect science, policy, finance, and community participation in building resilient landscapes and climate-ready rural communities.
