The Progyan Foundation for Research and Innovation (PFRI) participated in the National Symposium on Mangrove Replenishment, organised by the Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) and the Indian Institute of Education and Care (IIEC), bringing together stakeholders committed to advancing coastal resilience through nature-based and community-driven solutions.
PFRI contributed to the symposium through its presentation, “Blue Carbon Vault: Bridging Climate Action & Carbon Finance,” highlighting the potential of mangrove conservation and restoration to support climate action, blue carbon finance, biodiversity, and local livelihoods. The symposium also explored the challenges facing Odisha’s mangroves and the need for locally grounded restoration approaches.
The discussions highlighted a shared vision for stronger native mangrove diversity, community-led ecological restoration, climate preparedness, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The engagement reaffirmed PFRI’s commitment to promoting nature-based solutions that connect ecological resilience with community well-being.
