World Environment Day Celebration with the Little Guardians of Sundarbans #BeatPlasticPollution
On World Environment Day, PFRI joined hands with the youngest voices of the Sundarban to
reaffirm our commitment to ending plastic pollution. The day began with an interactive and
fun-filled session where children were introduced to the significance of this global occasion and
the urgent need to care for our environment.
Using relatable stories and practical examples, we helped the kids understand how even small
efforts can create a big impact — especially in sensitive ecosystems like the Sundarbans. They
discovered how plastic pollution harms not only land and water, but also the flora, fauna, and
communities that depend on this delicate habitat.
The enthusiasm was contagious as the children eagerly pledged to become eco-warriors in their daily lives. The event concluded with a meaningful clean-up drive around their homes, where we collected plastic waste and talked about simple, sustainable alternatives to reduce plastic use.

This joyful and insightful experience showed that change starts with awareness — and grows
through action. These young hearts are now leading the charge toward a cleaner, greener
future. With each small step they take, we move closer to beating plastic pollution — together.
