PFRI Honoured with India Biodiversity Preservation Excellence Award at India Climate Samman 2025
Progyan Foundation for Research and Innovation (PFRI) has been honored with the prestigious India Biodiversity Preservation Excellence Award at India Climate Samman 2025, organized by the Carbon Market Association of India (CMAI) during India Climate Week. The event, themed ‘प्रकृतिरेब शरणम्– Uniting the World for Climate Action’, brought together distinguished organizations such as Indian Oil, Tata Energy, Indian Territorial Army, Larsen & Toubro, Indian Railways, DD News, Forest Department Jharkhand, and CEDAR, among others. Upon receiving the award, Dr. Malancha Dey, Director of PFRI, emphasized that while biodiversity conservation is a key pillar of environmental sustainability, natural resource management remains the major goal. PFRI actively addresses environmental challenges across diverse landscapes, from the Himalayas to the coasts, and upholds the legacy of the South Asian Forum for Environment (SAFE) by contributing to environmental solutions across South Asia. The organization engages in climate-resilient agriculture, biodiversity conservation, water resource management, and indigenous seed bank restoration, integrating science, policy, and community action. PFRI has been actively participating in national and international climate dialogues, including workshops, COP16, COP29, and the upcoming COP30, ensuring that research and innovation translate into actionable policies. Despite ongoing efforts, the organization acknowledges that the impact of scientific work often fails to reach communities in crisis. With this award, PFRI is further motivated to bridge the gap between research and real-world implementation, ensuring that environmental solutions effectively cater to societal needs.
