A multistakeholder workshop titled "Policy Comprehension to Mainstream Climate Resilient Agro-farming Practices in Sri Lanka" was held on August 8, 2024, at the Rain Centre of the Lanka Rain Water Harvesting Forum in Pelawatta, Sri Lanka. Organized by the South Asian Forum for Environment (SAFE), India, in collaboration with the Progyan Foundation for Research and Innovation (PFRI), the event gathered diverse participants, including government officials, academic experts, climate specialists, and representatives from non-governmental organizations and international bodies of Sri Lanka. Experts from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal also participated in the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to discuss current agricultural policies and the challenges in implementing climate-resilient farming methods in Sri Lanka. The outcomes emphasized the need for improved communication and dissemination of policies at the ground level, cross-sectoral collaboration, and the inclusion of nature-based solutions. Participants highlighted Sri Lanka's vulnerabilities due to climate change, the necessity of integrating global best practices with local knowledge, and the importance of advancing adaptive measures to ensure sustainability in the agricultural sector.
